I mostly photograph weddings and meet couples when they are fresh and new in a loving relationship, it's so wonderful to be a part of their celebrations. The nervousness, the gittyness, (is that a word?) the excitement.. I always hope the couple will be together forever and truly happy in their future lives together. When Tom called me up to take photos of him and his family, I wasn't expecting a 50th wedding anniversary! That's something you don't hear of much these days. For two people to love each other through thick and thin, in sickness in health... like these two have, is unfortunately not the norm these days; but when I see couples like my grandparents, couples like Ann and Tom, I thank my lucky stars to have fallen in love. I hope to feel the same way I do in this moment, 50 years from now.

Congratulations to Ann and Tom! You and your family were a pleasure to photograph. Here are just a few of the images.

Dionne and Tom's wedding day called for rain and it rained! It made for some great overcast skies, cool clouds and a reminder of how beautiful Vancouver Island is in all types of weather. It was an outdoor ceremony and it didn't bother Tom or Dionne a bit. You can view their engagement session here.

Their friends and family circled around the ceremony and I could see the love and friendship in all of the eyes of the guests and very much so in the eyes of the wedding couple.

This was a beautiful wedding with an extremely humorous and kind group of people. My cheeks hurt from smiling so much. Thank you Dionne and Tom for trusting me with your wedding photography, inviting me into your home and allowing me to be a part of your very special day.

It was an absolute pleasure meeting the both of you (as well as family and friends).

I wish you both a world of love and friendship and hopefully our paths will cross again one day. :)

Dana + Rob = 2 babies!

You know when you meet people and you just know they are going to be wonderful parents? Well, that's how I felt when I met Dana and Rob. Both very nice people with two babies expected in the next couple of weeks. If the love between these two is anything compared to what they will provide their children, then these children will be extremely lucky.

Here are some images from Dana's maternity shoot and in no time at all, we will be seeing their two beautiful babies. I'm thinking one will be a boy and one a girl. :) That's my guess anyway. :)

The Rainaldis!

Debbie called me up asking to take some photos of her family. Two boys, one in college, one graduating high school (congrats kane and all you other grads!) and their house just sold. A new life for all of them on the way and what better way to say good bye to old times and hello to new times with a photo session. I wish you the best Kane with your future and highschool behind you, Cody all the best with your schooling and future, Debbie and Tim, have a wonderful (stress free LOL) move and think of all the beautiful grand children you will have one day. (just buggin' Kane and Cody. hehe)

Happy 1st birthday Baby Wyatt :)

I first took photos of Wyatt when he was only 2 months old. You can view some of them here. :)

And now, here he is ONE year later! His parents Dave and Bree are very close friends of ours and asked me to snap some photos for his first birthday. I took Wyatt away from the party for only a short time and this is what happened! He stood for like... 8 seconds! He ate cake, made a mess, laughed! He was a natural.... Enjoy!

Wyatt has a brand new cousin, just 11 days old, Kailey Reagh. Congratulations Shonna and Paul!

The 2009 wedding season has begun and I am excited to show the first wedding I had the pleasure of photographing. This wedding was held in Sidney, British Columbia with guests from as far away as Denmark. Marilyn and Ted had their engagement photos done by myself as well and you can view them here. I couldn't stop uploading pictures.. Sorry, but there were just too many I liked! Ted and Marilyn are a very sweet couple and I wish them both a world of love.

The three of us met on a beautiful Saturday afternoon on a Vancouver Island Beach. The sun was perfect! The waves, just lovely and the couple a match made in heaven. Here are some photos of Erin and Ian's engagement shoot. These two had nothing but chemistry. I saw the sparks!

This family is very close to my husband and I, they make me smile every time I see them. An incredible family with 3 young boys sure is a lot to take care of. Vancouver Island Beach Engagement Session with Kaori and Eric

I couldn't pick a favorite in this session! Kaori, Eric and I met on one of the sunniest beautiful days so far this summer. We had a great day and I am very excited for their Quadra Island wedding this summer. Kaori's parents will be flying in from Japan and Erics parents from Quebec. It will be a small but intimate beach wedding with a very large bon fire. I am totally excited for these two. :) Congratulations to the both of you, we are going to capture some beautiful moments on your wedding day.. I just know it.

I met up with Gloria and Brian of Mystic Creations Imports. They had asked me take photos of crystals, jewelry and beads they have gathered from around the world. Over the course of a few days, we were able to capture a total 12oo individual pieces beaming with brilliant colors and designs. We are now in the process of creating a really great catalogue of all their items. Mystic Creations Imports is a local (Campbell River) wholesaler for Canadian retailers. Forest, rapids, falls... a beautiful day

I had yet another wonderful engagement session this weekend. The day started off with me spilling coffee on my newly bleached white shirt(of course, leave it up to Tanya), running a bit behind I was hoping to pull up to smiles and not angry faces. I had not met Brandon yet so I was not sure I was leaving a great impression. However, he didn't know I spilt coffee on myself! I pulled up and I saw smiles. :oD

This session included Brandon and Kelsey. Two wonderfully down to earth people with a huge future ahead of them. They will be getting married in a small intimate wedding on the beach not far from where I live. Here are some images of their session... Focus and Laughs, kids in their elements

I remember being four. I remember going to the YMCA back in my home town with my pink ballet outfit on ready to become a star. I remember this. Not the whole thing, but I remember the feelings, the excitement of standing in the hallway waiting to enter the gym for the first time. I remember my teacher telling me to stand straight, arms out, up and down and whole bunch of other things that I couldn't figure out like the other girls could. I got frustrated. I quit. That was that.. and I was four.

Ellen... has been practicing and performing ballet since she was three! She loves it... she told me so. She is GREAT at it. She is a star. Ellen is now 10 and is a pretty amazing girl. Here are some images of Ellen in her Dance Studio.

Another pretty amazing kid is her brother Bailey. He is almost 14 and plays for the Campbell River Soccer Rep Team. He broke out in some tricks for me and we got some great shots. All in all this was a very entertaining shoot for me.

I was not born and raised in Campbell River. I moved here with only one friend on the island. I took a chance and ended up falling in love. Aww...

Since then and since starting my photography business, I have met some pretty amazing people. I am blessed every time I get a phone call or an email asking me to take photos of peoples lives. I am thankful to live in such a beautiful town.

EVERY time I get ready, I get all my lenses cleaned, pack up extra batteries, get ideas in my head of different poses, different ideas, my mind starts to spin. I jump in my car and turn on some tunes to keep the inspiration going and pull up to the place the clients and I agree to meet at.

Then, all of the ideas I had, the thoughts of how the hour is going to go, disappears from my mind and I forget everything I was going to do. It's like new inspiration pops into my head as soon as I meet the person or people I am about to photograph. It's really a cool way to get some neat photos and I thoroughly enjoy it every time.

I always meet a new friend too. It's strange how small this world can be and how supportive folks are.

Here are some images from a great gal and a great guy Dionne and Tom. Dionne knows friends of my friends and she is a super sweet and beautiful girl to photograph. Her fiance Tom is equally great and their dog Henna super cute... I am VERY excited about photographing this wedding. Flat Stanley visits Campbell River British Columbia

This was by far one of my funniest assignments! I have a really large family back in Ontario, I have over 30 first cousins whom I miss dearly, but my heart is really here on the West Coast.

One of cousins Sheri emailed me along with her daughter Jenna to see if I would be interested in helping the grade 2 students in Guelph Ontario learn about the postal service. Hence, the mailing of Flat Stanley.

Flat Stanley is a book written by Jeff Brown. "It is about a boy named Stanley who gets flattened by his bulletin board when it falls on him during the night. Stanley has to learn to live as a flat boy. In some ways, it is a great way to live. He can go down the sewer grate to get his mom's ring, slide under closed doors, fly in the air like a kite and even travel around the country in an envelope. Flat Stanley becomes a hero when he captures robbers in an art museum by pretending to be a picture in an empty frame. "

Rumor has it that Stanley has had his picture taken with Arnold Schwartenegger in California, worked on a computer, has been sightseeing at an army base and even performed CPR!"

Here is Flat Stanley on his visit to Campbell River. It was a foggy day and he wasn't able to see the mountains, but this is how we spent our day. haha. :)

Jenna, thanks! He's back in the mail on his way to Mrs. Pizzioloa's Grade 2 Class. :) Love you guys and miss you more. xo

Another Romantic Wedding Year!!

Another wedding year is upon us and I am very happy with the first engagement session. The day was absolutely beautiful and I really hope Marilyn and Ted's wedding day will be the same.

Engagement sessions are a great casual way to get to know one another a bit and allows for the couple to get more comfortable in front of the camera. Here are some images of Marilyn and Ted, we headed to the beach and to the spot they got engaged at.. Here is quite a long slideshow (10 minutes) of photos I have taken in the past couple of years. I have taken these photos from 4:00 in the morning, sitting on a beach waiting for the sun to rise with my tripod and camera ready, to 2:30 in the morning for the perfect full moon. Most of my images are from local trails, walks along beaches, winding through forests, up mountains and across the ocean in a boat to local islands. Crimson Reign @ The Mex

Well, where have I been?

Crimson Reign

I got a call the other day to take promotional photos of a new and upcoming band Crimson Reign. I was thinking.. hmm they sound familiar. Then I remembered I caught a bit of one of their shows at the CR Skate Park last summer. They were awesome! Even better in person. We had not seen baby Macy in over a year! When she came by to visit us with her mom and dad, we were blown away by her beauty! Her cuteness and koi little smile. Give me a break.. Every time I think... Ya, I'm not sure I could have any babies... These little dolls show up for visits... Friends babies, toddlers.. they drive my heart crazy. Here is Macy on her short little model visit. :) It was nice seeing ya'll again. :)

It is a Spotted Towhee (pipilo maculatus)

These guys came around when the snow was here in January, looking for seed.

I fed them quite often and they stuck around. I think they are off to a warmer place now.

The same eyes, the same hands, the same big toe and little tiny feet! Tracy is the mother of 4 incredibly cute kids...She is the proud new mom of two tiny baby boy twins, Marshall and Keiver and I had the honor of taking their photos! These twins have a great family surrounding them, including two big wonderful brothers.

Allison is one AMAZING woman... She is kind, generous, thoughtful and not to mention, one of the funniest people I have ever met...

We decided on a day for photography that was not the nicest day at all. It was rainy and dark, there was a bear that surprised the pants off of all of us!!!! Ok, Christian was a little more brave than then us three girls... but even under the circumstances, we managed to pull of some really nice photos. Her daughter is sooooo funny and cute.. her son talented and handsome. I hope one day he becomes a famous rock star so I can be his photographer. :) Remember me when your famous Christian!

Archie and Otto are our dogs. They are almost 3 years old and were lucky enough to stick together their whole life. What's even better, is that their sister Riley lives right next door and I got to dog sit her this weekend!

Cold Windy Day, Spectacular Family!

The wind was very cold on the beach this day. We rushed to get some great shots before freezing our butts off. Aaron and Jill are great friends of my husband and I. We've watched their little girl grow and just recently they had their second little bundle of joy. Here are some photos from the kinda cloudy but kinda sunny breezy cold day at the beach, followed by a quick indoor session. :)

Little Tommy had a bad belly the day of our photo shoot. It was also kind of grey and rainy anyway, which isn't totally bad for photos, but it definitely was the best to reschedule for the next day. The sun was shining, it took a bit for Tommy to get into the grove, but before you knew it everyone was smiling!

I love this family! Nicole was one of the first people to call me up and ask me to take family photos for her last year. The pictures turned out pretty well, but I think this year they are even better! Especially that the entire family was involved. It's neat to stay in contact with friends and clients this way, watching their children grow and get to know you. It's such an honor to be out there sharing in a fun day. I love how much kids say, "CHEESE!!!!!" I really hope you like these and thanks so much Nicole and Family for your continued support. :)

Experiencing front row, right behind Luongo, watching all the action, squinting at each puck that hit the glass, seeing how big those guys are, hearing the crowd yell and cheer was SO awesome! I'm still amazed at the beautiful colors, the cozy crisp fall air and all of the wonderful changes the fall brings. Just taking a moment to really listen to the season, to be quiet and still in nature. I'm so fortunate to live is such a beautiful place and be able to capture images with my camera as well as my mind. Something I will do for a long time to come.

The ocean, the forest, what makes a better background than that?
Cute kids, a loving family and humor, what makes better clients that than??

As much as I love the fun of being in a studio, I really enjoy being a natural light photographer and
being surrounded by the natural scenery of Vancouver Island.

Donna and her beautiful family were totally up for a long walk to the beach. I got to know her family a bit before we started the shoot and couldn't be happier. We even made some connections with mutual friends, what a small world... What a wonderful family.. CUTE!!! Pretty, handsome, funny! I have posted quite a few pictures here and had to tell myself to stop... please post comments. I would love to hear what you think of my photography.

This past weekend was so much fun.. The fall air, the beautifully changing leaves...

I had two shoots; one of an amazingly wonderful, cute and beautiful family (pictures soon)

and one of an incredible baby Axel. Axel is THE cutest thing...

Okay, I say that about every baby... but give me a break! Look at him!

Miranda and Dwight Bakkan. Miranda and I met at the Rick Hansen fundraiser. Her husband Dwight is also quadriplegic, but enough about the men in our lives,

Western Conifer Seed Bug

I found this little guy on my bar-b-que. I set him free before I turned on the flames. :)

These guys are also called stink bugs.. though I never smelled any stink. Apparently they eat seeds of Conifers and I'm wondering if this is what is killing our pines... hmm.

Neat patterns none the less.

1 hour photo session outdoors or indoors. (Studio add $50)

The cards are printed on card stock in a 5.5" x 4.5" postcard-style.

One or two photos on the front, photo on the back if you choose OR 2009 desktop calendar.

All edited images on DVD for you to share and print as you wish.

Looking for a home...

This little girl is looking for a home. She is so sweet, so lovable.. a little talkable, and will only go to a home that is completely committed to love her and take her for many a walks. Her current family is busy and can't keep up with the loving attention they feel she needs. She gets along REALLY well with cats and is about 3 years old. Her name is Teka. Let me know if you are interested. There would be an interview required and a few visits by the owner in order to get comfy with the new family. Teka is such a wonderful girl... I would take her if I could.. but I already have my 2 golden retrievers and can't fit anymore puppies in my home..

I'm excited to show you these..

She wanted to do something special; something exciting for her husband and gave me a call.

I was honored to do a "fun and free" at home shoot.

I took these at her house, in the comfort of her own home. What a beautiful woman! We sat and talked about some ideas, had a drink of wine and started the shoot.

It was so much fun, we laughed, we laughed until we almost cried... It was fun.. Thanks for being so wonderful and contacting me, and thanks of course for letting me post these images of you.

ok.. so I want you to let me take photos of you.. But I have not yet showed photos of myself!? That's not fair now is it?

Last summer I married a very incredible man.. He has made all of my dreams come true and I love him and his boys so so much...

Erin Wallis was our wedding photographer. From the moment I met her, I smiled. She did such a great job and is truly one of the biggest inspirations for me starting photography. I first contacted McKinnon Photography.. who was booked.. an amazing photographer for sure! I searched SP Photo, she's a really nice gal too...it's so hard to choose a wedding photographer! :)

However, Erin was the gal for us.. Thanks again Erin for being a part of our day. Here are just a couple of my favorite images from our wedding.

The moon was sooo bright last night, I couldn't sleep. This happens for most full moons.. My day always starts off wacky. Anyway, here are a couple moon images I took last night. This time I added a bit of artistic creativity with my camera. Enjoy. :)

but I've been walking around and took some more landscape photos. I really really need to get to some very cool places so I can post more beautiful images for you to view. Now that wedding season has died down, I feel a bit lost! I really honestly can't wait until next summer when it all begins again... There's nothing like beautiful subjects in beautiful places creating beautiful images... Without you, I would be nothing. :)

Campbell River Lodge Wedding

I feel like I've known Laura and Jaysson forever! It was so much fun being a part of their wedding day. From the moment I met Laura at her house, the walk to the Campbell River Lodge and all the picutres in between, I couldn't help but keep smiling. Her bridesmaids were beautiful, she was beautiful, her dog very very cute!! Jaysson looked so proud being up front and he should be! His groomsmen were great, dad and son! What an awesome pair. Thank you to the kind patron of the Campbell River Lodge who let us take some pictures by his hotrod!

This is my last wedding booked for this summer. :( Although next summer is starting to book!! I'm very excited!! Thank you once again to all the great couples I had the opportunity of meeting this summer.

When I'm at a wedding, I love all of the opportunities in front of me; the beautiful bride and groom, people laughing, crying, the love, dancing, children being so cute and funny, decorations, the small details, the weather, nature...the list goes on.. Capturing those moments in time and seeing them reveled through the processing always makes my heart warm. I get a bit anxious and excited before I reveal the images to the couple. I want nothing more then for the couple/family to love the images I take.. I cross my fingers and hope for great reviews, which so far I have had nothing but compliments. It warms my heart every time and gives me the inspiration to continue doing what I love.

Jennica and Travis were my second wedding this summer and were so kind to email me a review of how I did. Here it is, and I hope to share more in time. Thank you so much Jennica and Travis, you both are pretty amazing and I'm really glad we got to meet. Thank you for making part of your special day. :)
